NOW YOU CAN DOWNLOAD UBUNTU 18.04 LTS FROM MICROSOFT STORE AND INSTALL IN WINDOWS SUBSYSTEM
There is a good news for Microsoft Windows 10 users who is also interested in Linux. As per official announcement the latest version of Ubuntu i.e. Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Bionic Beaver is now available for download in Microsoft Store. This announcement published by Tara Raj on Microsoft official Blog. Users can install the Ubuntu 18.04 on Windows Subsystem on ARM devices.
First LTS version of Ubuntu was allowed to download in Microsoft store was Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and now Ubuntu 18.04 is the second one. As per the published blog by Tara Raj, The Ubuntu apps we are able to see in Microsoft Store are Published by Canonical and both 16.04 LTS and 18.04 LTS will be available for download on Microsoft Store. They also mentioned in this announcement that Microsoft and Canonical are partners now and canonical confirmed that the both Ubuntu version’s will get the official update for next 3 years.
There are some interesting features we can get after installing the Ubuntu 18.04 LTS in Windows 10 Subsystem i.e. Open Linux shell from file explorer. They also announced that users can launch the Linux shell from anywhere by pressing the Hotkey Shift + Right Click (on Mouse).
Now How you can download and install Ubuntu 18.04 in Microsoft Windows 10 ? Well it’ quiet simple. All you have to do is enable the Windows Subsystem and download the Ubuntu 18.04 LTS from Microsoft Store. That’s it and the rest of the things will handle by system automatically. The best part of this feature is you can install and use both Ubuntu 16.04 and Ubuntu 18.04 at same time.
